Our service covers a large portion of the Newcastle / Lake Macquarie area. We have branches at Boolaroo, Hamilton, Lambton, Mayfield, Merewether, Stockton & Wallsend. Some have been in operation for over 44 years.

At Newcastle and District Meals on Wheels we aim to enhance quality of life, by providing a nutritious food service to the frail aged, people with disabilities and their carers in our community, to assist them in maintaining their health and independence. To do this, it relies on a large band of volunteers and a small number of paid staff.

In the year ended June 2010, we produced approximately 145,000 meals for over 1000 clients.

Since 2001, the organistion has undergone a major reorganisation, moving from preparing its meals in 10 distributed kitchens, to preparing them all in one central Catering department and snap chilling them for distribution during the week. The meals are now heated by the clients when it suits them.
